It's April!
I purposefully waited a day to put this out.
Hello readers!
We have some small little newsbits and then a bunch of fairytale and fae features to go through— but someone recently contacted me to tell me to put the most important things on top, because she did not want to sit through the rest of the email.
So, without any further ado…
Updates, including two large ones.
The Leshy’s Lover cover has been ordered, I’m just waiting for that to come in and then I should be doing ARCs for that/readying a compiled World of Whynne Anthology volume for those who have missed stories in the series/want the World of Whynne stories in print.
I’m currently re-setting up my booksirens account and getting everything I need to run ARCs through there like usual, but I’ve sort of been a little distracted because…
I’m going back to graduate school starting this fall.
And still writing, but, you know. I’ve been sort of busy with other things lately.
My main goal for the coming months is to get the bulk of writing/ordering covers done for the last quarter of the year and look into a few avenues for doing a free serial as well for newsletter subscribers running the duration of my semester or school year.
So, there will still be some normal, longer releases, but the Novellas for the world of Whynne will likely start on their second volume somewhere around the second semester.
I’ve been advised not to say exactly where I’m most likely going, despite the fact that I’ll be doing it online, but I will say it’s for library science, and while I have been accepted to a few places for online school, I have put my top choice last in the applying season because I am very very anxious.
During the school year, I will be putting a bunch of my socials on autopost, and the best way to contact me will be Bethanyannelovejoy@gmail.com. You’ll also notice that my wordpress will be sort of quiet with the majority of my time going to writing and newsletter publications.
and, last big update.
I’m planning to release another full length novel in June, taking place outside of my normal universes and taking a lot more influence from Norse and Slavic mythology. This will be part of an interconnected standalone series that’s separate from all of my other series, with Peter Pan and the second University of the Unseen novel to come later this year.
My latest novel is still Duel of Shadows, with the Leshy’s Lover being an upcoming novella and part of a Whynne based Anthology. Duel of Shadows is not as romantic as some books, but it was my first foray into the Gothic Fantasy genre so, eh. I’m excited to be going back into more romantic, whimsical books.
What I’ve read recently
I have been dnfing a lot of book recently, but I did recently read Lady Charlotte Gets Her Man.
I am going to clarify before I post the cover and description that it does read fairly young, like early YA with some teenage romance elements, but I liked it for the most part. It’s rated as adult, but again, at one point I did think it was a YA book, and the cover did trip me up, so full disclosure.
Booklist: The 11 Best Romance Books of March 2024
Family secrets, a brother's best friend's romance, and scandalous mystery combine in this delightfully witty historical rom-com—perfect for fans of Evie Dunmore, Enola Holmes, and Netflix's Bridgerton!
Lady Charlotte Lovett should have never run away upon discovering her betrothal. But when one has been promised to a man who, rumor has it, killed his previous two wives, one does what one must. The only thing that can get her out of this engagement is proving that Viscount Hawley is as sinister as she thinks he is. And the person who would know best is his very own brother.
In many ways, Dr. Matthew Talbot is the exact opposite of his sibling—scholarly, shy, and shunned by society. But like his brother, he has secrets, and he doesn’t need Charlotte exposing them in her quest to take down the viscount. It only seems prudent to help her while keeping her from poking her nose in all the wrong places. But as they put their hearts at risk to grow closer to each other, they are also getting closer to a dangerous confrontation with Hawley.
I read it on Libby, but it’s available here for purchase!
